Simultaneously, we submit a Request for Service to Evo Energy to secure a National Meter Identifier (NMI) allocation for the new dwelling. Timely submission of the metering form by the client is crucial to avoid delays in later stages.

2. Items Required for Final Electrical Inspection

A successful final electrical inspection hinges on having certain elements in place:

  • Installation of shower screens. 
  • Hot water system installed. 
  • Completion of all benches and cabinetry. 
  • Installation of all appliances. 
  • Placement of air conditioning units. 
  • Completion of all electrical fit-off. 

3. Common Items That May Be Defected

During the inspection, be mindful of common items that could lead to defects, such as:

  • Outlets or switches placed too close to sinks.
  • Outlets or switches in close proximity to cooktops.
  • Proper separation of data outlets and power outlets.

4. Certificate of Electrical Safety

Subsequently, an inspection is scheduled, typically with a one-week lead time. Successful inspections enable the smooth transition to metering and solar installation steps. In the event of defects, a brief window for rectification is provided, supported by photographic documentation. A written defect notice, offering a 14-day window for resolution, may also be granted, followed by a rebooking of the inspection, potentially introducing an additional week of delay.

5. Solar Certificate of Electrical Safety

For any new dwelling with solar installations, it is essential to have the system energized and commissioned before submitting the Certificate of Electrical Safety. This represents the final onsite phase for solar projects. Upon successful testing and commissioning, we submit the Certificate of Electrical Safety for the solar components to Access Canberra, arranging a subsequent inspection typically with a one-week lead time.

6. Final Certificates

Upon completing all the necessary steps, we submit the Smoke Alarm Certificate to the builder, a crucial document for the certifier to grant the Certificate of Occupancy for the dwelling.
